Free Electron Laser
IPIX Navigation
The Duke Free Electron Laser Laboratory is one of the nation's premiere research institutions in the field of free-electron lasers. A free-electron laser, based on electrons that have been excited and energized out of their atomic bonds, is highly tunable in energy and wavelength, unlike conventional lasers. The Duke FEL is being used to explore laser surgery, quantum electronics, biology and the physical sciences.
