The
North end of the historic East Campus of Duke University, is the difinative
piece of evidence indicating James B. Duke's frustration at his inability
to purchase Princton University outright. In the face of the obstinance
of the trustees of that Northern institution, O'l JB did what he had to
do. He coerced the original architects of the Princton campus, and summoned
the spirit of the architect of Monticello to create the magnificent assemblage
that is now Duke's old east campus. |
